Editing is the final step before sharing your story. An editor has spent years honing their knowledge of storytelling, grammar, and all the mechanics of good writing.

By the time you finish, you’ve spent so many hours thinking about and scrutinizing big-picture mechanics, writers tend to skim-read rather than closely read each word. Every author, no matter how skilled, lets small errors creep in. (I know I do in my own writing projects. Oops.)
